PREMIER CRU, SAI YING PUN, 15 HIGH STREET

our Premier Cru wine shop

The past four years have been extremely challenging. This is not just commercially but also personally for us.

I sometimes wonder if we should compare the challenges we have faced to the challenge of reminding some people that Chablis is a wine region and not a grape.

We would like to thank our supporters who have continued to visit our shop and support us. For those who have moved on, we hope they are still enjoying good and great wines.

Owner, Wine Lover & Friend.

Only an occasional wine enjoyer before I moved to Hong Kong, I was in awe that such a beautiful shop existed in Sai Ying Pun when I first walked into Premier Cru over nine years ago.

Premier Cru continues to influence me to new experiences. Beautiful wines and experts and not forgetting the friendship and wine knowledge of Christophe. This started my love of wine and in particular French wines.

Born in Gloucester, England, I spent most of my childhood in Canada. When I returned home it wasn't long before I joined the Household Calvary as a professional soldier on both horses and tanks. After 15 years I decided I needed a career change and became a father while advancing in IT management and Security and Data solutions. It was a role in Air Craft leasing that brought me to Hong Kong in 2014.

I don’t get too heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the shop and spend the majority of my time behind the scenes on business operations and development. I do enjoy listening to people’s wine experiences, even the not-so-good experiences and generally try to be in the shop during the evenings and weekends. I also find time to expand my personal knowledge beyond our in shop wines, always in search for beautiful wines to introduce to our customers and friends. As I say, ‘If you have always succeeded and never failed, you have never tried something you didn’t already know’.
